Did A Set-Up Twitter Account Help Fuel Lane Kiffin Prank?

By now you’re well aware of the Lane Kiffin phone number prank that was pulled off by our sister site Bama Hammer.

It really was a work of art. It was even mentioned on the Jim Rome Show on Friday.

The prank was so good, in fact, that most Vol fans tipped their hats to the folks that helped pull it off.

Now that the prank is in the rear view mirror, however, there’s one Vol Twitter account I’m a bit suspicious of.

When Bama Hammer first ran their story earlier this week that Vol nation had somehow got their hands on Kiffin’s cell phone number, I was immediately skeptical. I already knew Bandit over at Bama Hammer was at work on something.

In their post that said Tennessee fans had the number, Bandit mentioned that “Tennessee Twitter” was abuzz with the number. I immediately Twitter searched the phrase “Lane Kiffin number” and not a lot popped up — except for one guy.

The Twitter user @Vols4evah, who first tweeted on October 19, seemed to be the only person tweeting about the number. In fact, he was tweeting random fans.

At first he claimed that a friend of his got the number, which we obviously know isn’t true.

Then he quoted the original article.

And again.

Oddly enough, however, he’s still mixing it up with Bandit.

But, given the facts, we know this account was obviously a “plant”.

It’s little consolation, but now you know what to watch for when the Vols and Alabama play in 2016.
