Vols Hit Bowl Game Gold
By Zach Ragan
Let’s face it, if you’re not going to be participating in the College Football Playoff then there really isn’t a better bowl than the Outback Bowl.
For a lot of reasons.
First off, anything to do with Outback is a win in my book. The Australian themed chain restaurant is one of the many things in life that makes me feel all warm and fuzzy. The Bloomin’ Onion, the incredible cheese fries, the irresistible ranch. I could go on for days. There’s a reason I go there for my birthday every year.
And yes, I’m aware this is about a football game and not a Friday night dinner, but just the mere mention of Outback makes everything better in my world.
(Plus there’s the fact that if Tennessee wins on Friday, everyone gets a free Bloomin’ Onion the next day.)
Ok so not only is Tennessee playing in the bowl game with the best sponsor, but they’re also playing in a pretty fantastic location. The Tampa/Clearwater area is as good as it gets in the lower 48.
The water is crystal clear and the weather, in late December, is basically paradise.
Does it get any better than that?
I mean can you imagine your favorite team playing in the Birmingham Bowl (no offense, Auburn).
And on top of all of that, the Vols are playing on New Year’s Day, which speaks for itself.

So as the Volunteers search for their ninth win of the season on Friday, remember that they’re playing in a bowl game that most other teams would absolutely love to be playing in.
