Former Vol Jordan McRae Signs With Phoenix Suns; Scores 12 Points in Debut

Former Tennessee Volunteers basketball star Jordan McRae signed a ten day contract with the Phoenix Suns on Friday.

McRae, was was originaly drafted by the San Antonio Spurs and then immediately dealt to the Philadelphia 76ers, was called up from the NBA’s Developmental League, where he had made quite an impression.

The former Vol scored 61 points, a D-League record, earlier this week.

McRae saw his first action on Friday night in a loss to the Knicks. The former Vol scored 12 points in 25 minutes of action. He also secured two rebounds while compiling four assists.

According to Tennessee’s official website, McRae is the fifth former Volunteers that’s on an active NBA roster. Tobias Harris, Josh Richardson, Jarnell Stokes and C.J. Watson are the others.

McRae played four seasons at UT, finishing with 1,521 points — 16th all time at Tennessee.

The Georgia native also finished seventh all time in career three pointers made at Tennessee and seventh in career blocks, proving to be an extremely well rounded player during his time on Rocky Top.
