5. Tennessee football secures a Top 20 class for 2018

We mentioned in a post earlier about the potential for the Tennessee Vols to secure a Top 10 recruiting class. It’s a huge stretch, but given how far of a jump they made in just one day of the early signing period, don’t count Jeremy Pruitt out.

Anyway, after moving from outside of the Top 60 to inside the Top 30, we have at least reshuffled what the goals should be under Pruitt. And now, while a Top 10 finish is not completely out of the blue but still a bit of a pipe dream, a Top 20 finish is becoming the expectation.

For his first class and the necessity to reshuffle so much talent, that’s a pretty impressive job. And it would give the Tennessee Vols a foundation in football for years to come.

Right now, Tennessee is seriously in the running for four elite prospects still and two more junior college prospects. So they have a great chance, with a bit of luck, to significantly improve this class.

But given what they proved during the early signing period, it’s clear that Pruitt and his staff are capable of putting together an elite recruiting class in a short amount of time. As a result, the Tennessee Vols have enough to get a Top 20 class.

And a Top 20 class is definitely a manageable first class to complement future elite classes. Add in great coaching, and a Top 20 class could end up being really good. So yes, this is definitely on the Tennessee Vols Christmas wish list.
