Women’s SEC Power Rankings Feb. 13: Lady Vols continue rising
Last week: Defeated Ole Miss Rebels; Lost to LSU Tigers
Last rank: 6th
The Texas A&M Aggies didn’t do anything to fall or rise in our SEC Power Rankings this past week. They hit pars, straight up. After all, there’s nothing to brag about with beating the Ole Miss Rebels. Meanwhile, losing to the LSU Tigers doesn’t change anything either.
Now, some might criticize Texas A&M being ahead of LSU after losing to them. Well, LSU still lost to Auburn, and the Aggies played the game in Baton Rouge and lost by two points. Taking all of that into account, that’s not nearly enough to keep this team below the Tigers.
Gary Blair’s team, as a top-half team in the league, has basically been hitting pars all year in this regard. None of their losses are bad, and all of their quality wins have been coming at home on the season. So this isn’t one of his previous teams that competed for a national championship.
However, the Aggies are still a very good team. After all, they are 19-7 and 8-4 in the SEC with the No. 9 ranked strength of schedule, good for an RPI ranking at No. 17. So yes, they can be thinking at least about a Top 4 seed in the NCAA Tournament.
But it’ll take some work to get there. A home game against the Florida Gators is up next, so they have one sure win coming. However, after that, they visit the Mississippi State Bulldogs. And they close the regular season out with a home game against the next team in our SEC Power Rankings.
