Tennessee football entered into a competition with Big 12 programs on Wednesday when they offered a scholarship to a running back from Kansas. The Vols reached out to Breece Hall, who is fielding offers from numerous schools, including both Iowa and Kansas teams.

Hall, a two-star on Rivals, stands at 6’1″ 200 pounds. Other schools interested in him include the Michigan Wolverines, the Minnesota Golden Gophers, the Nebraska Cornhuskers, and the TCU Horned Frogs.

He’s also looking into an offer from South Dakota State. Hall announced Tennessee football’s offer on Twitter Wednesday afternoon.

On Rivals, he does not have any national ranking overall or even at his position. And he doesn’t yet have a state ranking either.

However, there’s still time to build on that. Here’s a look at his highlight reel.

As you can see, it’s hard to judge his athleticism given the level of competition. It makes his speed questionable when he outruns defenses.

Still, what is clear is that he has lots of the fundamentals down pat to playing running back. Perhaps that’s what Jeremy Pruitt and the Tennessee football staff like about him.

Hall demonstrated an ability to catch balls in a vertical passing, and he showed a willingness to block. Also, his vision is pretty impressive. Even if the speed isn’t proven, he can clearly follow his blockers all the way down the field.

It’s hard to see where Hall would fit into the Tennessee football depth chart for a few years. The Vols have three sophomores this year at running back, including Ty Chandler. They also added a four-star true freshman in Jeremy Banks, and redshirt freshman Princeton Fant is trying out the position right now as well. And don’t forget about Carlin Fils-Aime, who is currently working with the defensive backs but could easily switch back to running back.

As a result, if he went to Tennessee, there’s a chance Hall would be buried in the depth chart. However, maybe he has hidden talent that nobody else can see. Hey, it’s happened with players on Rocky Top before.
