Tennessee football just went into Nick Saban’s backyard and picked a prospect that he wanted. Jeremy Pruitt has been making a habit of that early on in his tenure with the Vols. Remember Jordan Allen and Dominick Wood-Anderson from this past recruiting class?

This time, Pruitt secured a commitment from a 2020 athlete. Kristian Story, out of Lanett High School in Lanett, Ala. announced his commitment to the Vols Thursday night.

Story is not yet rated on Rivals, but he is a four-star on 247Sports. He announced his commitment to Tennessee football on Twitter.

At 6’2″ 198 pounds, Story is a very intriguing prospect. He plays receiver most of the time and catches a lot of passes out of the backfield. However, his teams use him on running plays, and that makes him deadly as well.

This is clearly why he’s an athlete. Here’s a look at his highlight reel.

As you can see, he has impressive speed. On those horizontal running plays when he outruns the secondary, that’s legitimate. Alabama is a state with elite enough high school football to read into that an impressive amount of talent.

He’s also great playing in the secondary, often times being in the right position at the right time. It’ll be interesting to see where Pruitt wants to use him when he gets on campus in two years.

And on jump balls, he has the ability to win them. So the guy has lots of athletic talent, solid vision, and a variety of skills. That makes him a huge pickup for Tennessee football.

When you consider the fact that the Vols secured him not just over Alabama but over the Georgia Bulldogs, Mississippi State Bulldogs and Louisville Cardinals, it’s clear they got a pretty solid prospect for 2020. So this is definitely a pickup for Pruitt and co. to celebrate very early on.
