With two commitments and a position conversion this year, Tennessee football has been restocking at tight end under Jeremy Pruitt. They took another step towards that on Friday with a huge commitment from Jackson Lowe.
Lowe, a 6’5″ 230-pound player, fielded offers from all over the country, notably the Alabama Crimson Tide, the Clemson Tigers, and the Georgia Bulldogs. So he is a huge pickup for Pruitt and the Vols.
Tennessee football emerged as a heavy favorite to land him after he visited the Vols last week Coming out of Cartersville High School in Cartersville, Ga., Lowe announced his commitment Friday afternoon.
A three-star recruit on Rivals, Lowe is currently the No. 14 ranked tight end in the country. However, that could obviously change before National Signing Day next year.
He was actually born in Chattanooga, Tenn. and was a top target of the Vols ever since Pruitt offered him in January. They had been establishing a very strong connection, and he visited the program twice after that offer.
Given his size, it’s clear to see why Pruitt wants him. He continues to follow through on his pledge to try to increase his system’s usage of tight ends. Here’s a look at Lowe’s highlight reel.
As you can see, in addition to his size, he is also very shifty and has quite a bit of speed. That’s a very good combination for a tight end, and it makes him a perfect fit for the SEC. This is clearly why so many teams wanted him.
Also, this highlight reel is legitimate. We already know about the depth of competition in the state of Georgia, so that speed is not an illusion. Lowe is clearly a very athletic tight end.

Pruitt continues to work wonders with this commitment as well. Tennessee football was able to get him away from three College Football Playoff schools, one of which is his home state. So this is a huge steal for the Vols and more good news on the recruiting trail.
