Tennessee football offered three more prospects after the Volunteers secured a huge pickup Friday afternoon. One was for 2021.

After three-star 2019 tight end Jackson Lowe announced his commitment to Tennessee football Friday,  Jeremy Pruitt and the Vols’ staff did not get complacent. In fact they extended scholarship offers to three more players that evening.

The Vols offered two prospects from Virginia Friday and one from Alabama. The offers went to a defensive tackle, an athlete and a cornerback.

They offered three-star safety/wide receiver Gerrien Christopher for 2019. Christopher, who comes from Indian River High School out of Chesapeake, Va., announced Tennessee football’s offer on Twitter.

Rivals listed Christopher as a safety, but 247Sports has him as a receiver. So we labeled him an athlete. That type of versatility, though, is a huge advantage to have overall. Coming in at 6’1″ 185 pounds, he clearly has a good combination of speed and physical prowess to make a difference.

But Pruitt and his staff attempted to get even further ahead of the game with their next offer. Looking ahead to 2021, they offered Norfolk, Va. defensive tackle KaTron Evans out of Granby High School.

Sure, it’s early to extend such an offer. But Evans is already 6’5″ 265 pounds and will only grow. So he has the chance to be a freak of nature for any team that gets him. Not yet rated on Rivals, Evans also announced Tennessee football’s offer on Twitter.

Before the night was over, Pruitt and the Vols went back to their bread and butter: the state of Alabama. Tennessee football extended an offer to 2019 cornerback Jaydon Hill.

Hill, a three-star on Rivals, comes from Bob Jones High School in Madison, Ala. He announced Tennessee football’s offer on twitter as well.

At 6’0″ 163 pounds, Hill is fielding multiple SEC offers. And he has visited the Vols at least twice, meaning Tennessee football likely has a good chance with him, especially given Pruitt’s connections to the state.

The Vols now have three commitments for their 2019 class after Lowe’s commitment. But they still have a ton of work to do. Pruitt and his staff know that, which is why they remain aggressive on the trail throughout spring ball.
