The Kansas City Chiefs draft former Vols defensive tackle Kahlil McKenzie in the sixth round. Now, the family rivalry begins.

Now former Tennessee football defensive tackle, Kahlil McKenzie received a call in the sixth round of the NFL Draft where the Kansas City Chiefs selected him with the 198th pick overall.

This is where the story gets interesting, Kahlil McKenzie comes from an impressive, and talented family. His father, Reggie McKenzie was raised in Knoxville, Tennessee and went to Austin East High School, before playing linebacker for the Vols in the early 1980s.

From there, Reggie went on to play in NFL where he was drafted in the 10th round of the 1985 Draft by the Los Angeles Raiders. Reggie also played for the Phoenix Cardinals and one year with the San Francisco 49ers. After his playing career, he took his talents to the front office for the Green Bay Packers.

Since the 2012 season, Reggie has been the GM for his former team, the Oakland Raiders.

So, it only makes sense that the Chiefs draft Kahlil to start the family rivalry. Kahlil posted a picture on his Twitter page as he received the call from the Chiefs organization.

Notice how most people at the party have their black and grey on for the Raiders. One guy in the back left has a Raiders shirt on that say, “real men wear black.” Kahlil will have something to say to that in his all red that he will be wearing next season.

Although the hate on the field is real, the Raiders had a little fun on Twitter after the Chiefs announced the pick from their page. Take a look as things got a bit awkward for Reggie and his organization.

All in all, no one is more proud of Kahlil on his fantastic accomplishment than his father. It will be interesting to see how Kahlil can handle being a rival of his father’s team and the switch to the offensive line. Either way, this will be a season full of trash talk in the McKenzie family.
