Tennessee football: 3 future Vols at the Nike’s The Opening
Nike’s annual The Opening Finals is happening this weekend. At the current moment, three future Vols will be a part of the event.
The Nike’s The Opening is one of the biggest camps for football recruits in the nation every year. It is a contest that includes close to 200 four and five-stars with a sprinkle of three-star prospects.
It just so happens it is this weekend, and Vol fans should pay close attention to the three future Vols commits.
Offensive Tackle – Wanya Morris
Wanya Morris is the top-rated recruit for the Vols in the 2019 class. According to 247Sports Composite ranking, Morris is the nation’s 24th best recruit and the 5th overall in the state of Georiga.
The 6-foot-5, 293 pounder is a strong kid that plays big. There is no doubt Tennessee is in need of offensive linemen and Morris fits the bill. Although Morris has a while before he puts on an orange and white jersey, he already is a big part of getting Tennessee back to the top of the SEC.
Wide Receiver – Ramel Keyton
Another commit from Georgia, Ramel Keyton is a four-star wide receiver that according to 247Sports Composite is the 163rd best in the nation.
He is a big receiver, and despite on running a 4.82, he looks more like 4.6. Keyton is good enough to make an early impact at Tennessee once he gets on campus.
It will be interesting to see how he fares in the events at The Opening.
Quarterback – Brian Maurer
The most recent commit and the first quarterback a part of the 2019 class is Brian Maurer. He’s a three-star prospect out of the state of Florida.
Maurer is a high energy guy that will bring that to the field. He has excellent size, but he will have to put on a little muscle to not be a smaller Tyler Bray. His pocket mobility is good with a strong arm and decent mechanics.
