4. “West Virginia quarterback Will Grier will win the Heisman.”

Coming off a five-touchdown game, West Virginia quarterback Will Grier is ready to accept the Heisman trophy. If you haven’t noticed yet, Grier is the darling of college football, but why?

Sure, he threw for 429 yards and five touchdowns, but it was against Tennessee. This is a Tennessee defense that is relatively young and apparently overrated, untaught, and needs to be improved…for the moment.

They could get better, and I entirely anticipate they do. However, the first game was shaky, and that is an understatement.

Tennessee football doesn’t have an SEC caliber defense. In fact, it is one of the worst in the SEC. So, throwing five touchdowns against the Vols is merely what a good quarterback should do.

Furthermore, Grier’s stats will be padded all season long. The Mountaineers play in a weak Big 12 where he should put up ridiculous video game numbers. Teams like Texas Tech, Kansas, Baylor, Oklahoma State, and Texas should have trouble stopping the Mountaineers offense just like the Vols.

Grier played well, but I’m not willing to give him the Heisman trophy. Quite frankly, I think he should be disqualified from winning the award because of cheating. Cheating is cheating no matter when it happens.
