And just like that, Ed Orgeron’s team is awoken to reality. Because we still have enough use for circular logic at this point, we were able to drop the LSU Tigers to No. 6 in our SEC Power Rankings with that loss. Obviously, we couldn’t put them ahead of the Florida Gators, and there are clear teams that belong ahead of Florida.

So for now, LSU is No. 6. But to be fair, they still have a lot to play for. The loss did not wreck their season by any means. Losing on the road to a very good team that is well-coached by Dan Mullen is nothing to be ashamed of.

The big issue for these guys is they have to find more consistency on offense. The defense is largely continuing to do its job. But against a good defense, their offense goes silent, and that happened when they were needed.

Still, this team has a chance to get things corrected pretty quickly. And they still have a brutal slate of games coming up to define their season. Up next are three straight home games, starting this week against the Georgia Bulldogs. Then they face the Mississippi State Bulldogs and the Alabama Crimson Tide. Simply put, we’ll know just how good this team is after the first weekend in November.
