That season-opening win over the Texas Tech Red Raiders is the only thing keeping the Ole Miss Rebels afloat in our SEC Power Rankings. But they have continued to look horrible throughout recent weeks, blowing out bad teams and falling apart against decent teams.

They are here because of their win over the worst team in the league, the Arkansas Razorbacks. But at 5-3 and 1-3, they really have nothing to celebrate since that opener. Matt Luke’s team needed a miracle to beat Arkansas anyway. And that Auburn loss was worse than it even looked if you watched the game.

Auburn isn’t that good of a team either. So for right now, you even have to question is these guys can make a bowl game. The good news is they have a bye week to get healthy and will have four chances to reach bowl eligibility at the end of the season.

They have a legitimate shot right out of the bye with the South Carolina Gamecocks at home. The Mississippi State Bulldogs at home at the end of the season could be a possible victory too. But the real test will come down to a road game against the next team in our SEC Power Rankings.
