Tennessee football: 4 bold predictions for Vols vs. South Carolina
No.3 – Tennessee has a 100-yard rusher
Tennessee’s rushing attack has struggled as of late. They haven’t had a 100-yard rusher since Ty Chandler did it in the UTEP game. Chandler finished that game with 158 total rushing yards on 12 carries with one touchdown.

The only other game the Vols had a player with at least 100-yards rushing was Tim Jordan against West Virginia. Jordan finished that game with 118 rushing yards on 20 carries with one touchdown.
Recently Tennessee has struggled to run the football. Here are the rushing totals from the past couple of games.
156 rushing yards – Florida
66 rushing yards – Georgia
68 rushing yards – Auburn
31 rushing yards – Alabama
This became an even bolder prediction with the news of the season-ending injury of offensive linemen Trey Smith. However, I think the South Carolina game is where the Vols get on track and have a 100-yard rusher. My guess is it will be Ty Chandler.
The Vols are going to need Chandler to get going especially if Jarrett Guarantano is out for the game. Against Alabama Keller Chryst showed he had poise in the pocket and made the right when the pressure came.
If Chandler or any of the other running backs can get going, it could do wonders in opening up the passing attack. South Carolina ranks 89th nationally giving up 180 yards on the ground per game which is much different than Alabama and Auburn.
