Vanderbilt Commodores at Arkansas Razorbacks

Saturday, Oct. 27 at Noon E.T.; Razorback Stadium; Fayetteville, Ark.

TV: SEC Network; Line: Vanderbilt -1.5; Over/Under: 52

Billy Williford

Vanderbilt and Arkansas should be one of the most boring games in this week’s slate. The Commodores are coming off a defensive battle with the Kentucky Wildcats. Despite filling the 7th spot in the SEC West ranking, the Razorbacks are trending in the right direction.

Arkansas struggled to start the season but have started playing teams close and even beat Tulsa 23-0 last night. Plus the game is in Fayetteville, so that has to help a little, right?

In the end, I think Vanderbilt has too good of a defense and will end up winning this game.

Vanderbilt: 24 Arkansas: 21 (Vanderbilt -1.5; Under 52)

Vanderbilt has shown they can compete with great teams throughout the season. The only problem is, they can’t close the finishing deal. Going on the road to Arkansas may seem like a W on paper for the Commodores, but the Razorbacks have finally figured it out on offense.

This game will come down to who can force the most turnovers and score from those. Both teams are in desperate times to get a W in their column. Arkansas being at home is a good advantage to them and they are the more talented team. Give me the Razorbacks to edge out the Commodores in a close matchup.

I’ve seen enough from the Vanderbilt Commodores. Their last two SEC wins are both against Tennessee football, and the last one came with the Vols ready to quit on the season. They can make things close, which is interesting, but it won’t be enough to win.

The Arkansas Razorbacks have slowly come together. Former Tennessee football defensive coordinator John Chavis pitched a shutout last week. Meanwhile, the offense is getting a bit better under Chad Morris. They hung with the Ole Miss Rebels. Playing at home, I believe in the combination enough for the Hogs to win a close one.

Arkansas: 20 Vanderbilt: 14 (Arkansas +1.5; Under 52)
