South Carolina Gamecocks at Ole Miss Rebels

Saturday, Nov. 3 at Noon E.T.; Vaught-Hemingway Stadium; Oxford, Miss.

TV: SEC Network; Line: EVEN; Over/Under: 67

Billy Williford

This should be a fun game to watch with the line as a pick’em. I think that is fair especially for the way South Carolina has looked recently. I’m not taking anything away from Tennessee because the Vols look like a much better football team. But, they lost to a just okay Gamecocks team.

Ole Miss is just okay too. Their defense is one of the worst in the SEC. In fact, the rushing defense ranks last and the passing defense ranks second to last. However, they do have a pretty good offense led by Jordan Ta’amu.

What did the South Carolina Gamecocks need to beat Tennessee football? They needed a bye week, a horrible call by the officials in which a fumble was missed, and a Vols team that had to prepare for the loss of its top offensive lineman on the fly. Now, they’re facing an Ole Miss Rebels team in Oxford coming off a bye.

Matt Luke’s guys will turn this into the shootout they need it to be. In the process, they’ll pull off the win. All the things working in South Carolina’s favor against the Vols are now working in Ole Miss’s favor. So the Rebels win, and this game hits the over.

South Carolina’s fast paced offense proved last week to be very effective. This spells bad news for the Rebels defense. Ole Miss will need to air it out time and time again if they want any shot of winning this game. South Carolina on paper has the more talented team but the Gamecocks have been known to let teams hang in with them all game.

Expect a lot of fireworks in this game. This is going to be a lot of fun to watch! Whoever makes the most of their drives is the team that will come out victorious in this game. South Carolina has been more effective in finishing their drives all year compared to Ole Miss. Advantage? Gamecocks.
