No. 20 Texas A&M Aggies at Auburn Tigers

Saturday, Nov. 3 at Noon E.T.; Jordan-Hare Stadium; Auburn, Ala.

TV: ESPN; Line: Auburn -4; Over/Under: 48.5

One of the games I missed last week was Texas A&M vs. Mississippi State. I honestly can’t believe the Aggies lost that game. Auburn, on the other hand, apparently has bounced back after the loss to the Vols.

Both teams have shown signs of being really good and really bad. Texas A&M has played two top-5 teams closer than anyone in the nation but lost to a struggling Mississippi State team. Good luck with this game but I’m going with the Tigers.

Who saw the Texas A&M Aggies getting rocked by the Mississippi State Bulldogs? Well, none of us did. Now they have to travel to Jordan-Hare to take on the Auburn Tigers, and while I still believe in Jimbo Fisher’s program long-term, I don’t believe in them for this game.

Auburn recovered from their loss to Tennessee football to beat the Ole Miss Rebels and then get a bye week. Now, they get to host a team reeling with a lack of confidence off the bye. Gus Malzahn is undefeated off the bye in his career at 9-0. And every advantage favors his team in this game. So I think his offense gets it going to win, and because of that, they’ll also hit the over.

It’s hard to predict this game because you don’t know what team for either squad will show up. Will the Texas A&M team that played Clemson close show up? Will the Auburn team that got dominated by Tennessee show up? Or will the Texas A&M team that got dominated by Mississippi State show up? Or will the Auburn team that dominated a week after the Tennessee game show up? No one knows.

As far as evaluating these two teams on paper, Auburn looks to be the more talented team. But with the coaching and locker room situation going on in the Plains, you can’t pick Auburn to win this game. It will be close, but the Gus Bus has crashed and burned to the ground. It will show in this game, even if it will be close.
