They lost two straight games, and we hardly did anything to the Tennessee Vols in our SEC Power Rankings. However, after a win, we managed to drop them below a team that didn’t play, a team that didn’t win its game and the team that they beat.

That’s what happens when you look as bad as Jeremy Pruitt’s team did against the Charlotte 49ers. There was absolutely no reason for UT to struggle at that level. Before the weekend, I was certain that this team had an outside chance to win out.

Now, I’ve made the jump to saying that even a bowl game itself looks unlikely. Who’s going to put their faith in this 4-5 team after what happened? Their win over the Auburn Tigers seems like it was two centuries ago.

Nonetheless, they enter the final stretch of their season needing to win two of three games against teams that will all be favored over them at this moment. This includes a huge home showdown coming up against the Kentucky Wildcats.

After that, these guys have to host a Missouri Tigers team that just destroyed the Florida Gators. Those two games are both likely losses, and they need to win one to stay bowl eligible. So six wins seems like a long-shot now. Then they have to find a way to win their final game on the road against the next team in these SEC Power Rankings.
