No. 8 Georgia Bulldogs vs. No. 6 Florida Gators

Line: Georgia -6.5; Over/Under: 45; TV: CBS

Saturday, Nov. 2 at 3:30 p.m. ET; TIAA Bank Field; Jacksonville, Fla.

This is the only other top 25 game of the week outside of a non-conference Group of Five showdown, and shockingly, College Gameday picked that game over this one despite the implications of this one. You’re talking about two top 10 teams playing for the SEC East and to stay alive in the College Football Playoff race, and it’s a rivalry game.

Could the World’s Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party get anymore exciting this year? After two decades of the Florida Gators dominating the Georgia Bulldogs, UGA is ahead this decade with a 5-4 record. They also have the worse loss right now, at home to the South Carolina Gamecocks. Kirby Smart, in his fourth year, is desperate to make that national title run.

However, Florida is looking like the 2006 team. They were in Urban Meyer’s second year back then, and this is Dan Mullen’s second year. In 2006, they navigated the toughest schedule in the nation with only one loss, which was on the road to an SEC West team. That’s exactly what’s happening here. Georgia would be their second major win of the season after the Auburn Tigers.

Prediction

Both teams have a loss, both teams have a bye, and both teams blew out Tennessee football. We are taking the Gators. The spread is easy enough to bet on Florida, as it’s way too high with UGA favored by nearly a touchdown. But this is a Florida team that wins with great defense and adapts to its opponent. Mullen is a better on-field coach than Smart, and that’s what gets it done.

Florida: 27 Georgia: 21 (Florida +6.5; Over 45)
