Ranking the five most important Tennessee Lady Vols for 2019-2020
She didn’t start in the Tennessee Lady Vols’ exhibition victory, but Jordan Horston figures to be a major player in the rotation this year. After all, despite not starting, she played more minutes than anybody else. That suggests she’ll be a major force for Kellie Harper’s first team, whether or not she’s officially labeled as the starter.
At 6’2″, Horston was the highest-rated guard in the 2019 recruiting class and the No. 2 ranked player nationally. She is a superstar and the perfect type of player to replace Evina Westbrook. Harper’s got more size on her team this year than Holly Warlick did last year, but the guards will still be the ones to shoulder lots of the work.
Horston is one of those players. She could immediately come off the bench and provide quick scoring, and she’ll likely also be needed to distribute the ball. There’s almost no doubt that she’ll see more action than any other freshman on the team. And she may see more action than anybody in general.
There’s a chance that Horston steals the starting job down the road. Clearly she has the most potential, and she’s the player that Harper will spend time trying to grow with. But for now, we have her at No. 5 on the list because of her youth, the fact that Harper didn’t start her the first game and the number of bodies at guard.
