Georgia Bulldogs over Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets

Line: Georgia -28; Over/Under: 46.5; TV: ABC

Saturday, Nov. 30 at Noon ET; Bobby Dodd Stadium; Atlanta, Ga.

If the SEC is going to have five teams make the New Year’s Six and guarantee that at least one team makes the playoff, the Georgia Bulldogs have to beat the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets over the weekend. With one loss already on their schedule, they can’t afford to head into the SEC Championship game by adding another one.

Should that happen, they will be eliminated from the College Football Playoff, and they will be having to play their way into the New Year’s Six in the SEC title game. They left no room for error after losing at home to the South Carolina Gamecocks.

Of course, had they won that game, them and the LSU Tigers winning this weekend would assure that both teams make the playoff, regardless of what happens in the title game. That would have made things very interesting and almost likely that three SEC teams get into the playoff. But that’s not what happened, so this is where they are.

Tennessee football fans have likely been split over whether or not to root for the Dawgs in this game every year. There is obviously SEC pride in play. But at the same time, the hatred for Georgia is real. Well, this weekend, there should be no conflicted Vol fans. All of Rocky Top needs to root for UGA here.
