Ohio State Buckeyes over Michigan Wolverines

Line: Ohio State -9; Over/Under: 51; TV: Fox

Saturday, Nov. 30 at Noon ET; Michigan Stadium; Ann Arbor, Mich.

Right now, the Ohio State Buckeyes are almost a lock for a New Year’s Six bowl game. Even if they lose this weekend to the Michigan Wolverines and in the Big Ten Championship game, they will still clinch themselves a spot since it will only be two losses. So the goal for Tennessee football fans needs to be to make sure every other Big Ten threat gets eliminated.

One of those Big Ten threats is the Michigan Wolverines. At 9-2, they are a fringe top 10 team. However, if they lose to the Ohio State Buckeyes, they will finish the season 9-3 with a blowout loss to the Wisconsin Badgers, a loss to Ohio State and a loss to the Penn State Nittany Lions. Their only quality win will be over the Notre Dame Fighting Irish.

As a result, at that point, they will be behind all SEC teams with three losses. And that makes this game obvious in terms of which teams Vol fans should root for. Given Ohio State’s situation, they need to be rooting for the Buckeyes to run the table in the Big Ten in the hopes of ruining other teams’ resumes in the process.

Jim Harbaugh, of course, is desperate to win this game just to be able to sell the job he’s doing at Michigan. So there’s much more desperation on his end. But Rocky Top needs Ohio State to come through in their final regular season game.
