5. ZaQuandre White (Junior College)

Running Back; 6’0″ 215 pounds

North Fort Myers, Fla; Iowa Western Community College

The one junior college player on this list, Tennessee football is clearly looking for another power running back in this class. Currently, the Vols have Tee Hodge, a power back from Maryville, and Jabari Small, an all-purpose back from the Memphis area. However, both players are three-star freshmen, so they’ll take a bit of time to develop.

With Jeremy Banks having been dismissed from the team only after he had already converted to linebacker, Jeremy Pruitt is currently stuck with mostly all-purpose backs. Ty Chandler and Eric Gray are elite, but another power back would be a big deal. Enter ZaQuandre White, who could come in and make an immediate splash.

A four-star on Rivals, White initially committed to the Florida State Seminoles in 2017 but then transferred at the end of the 2018 season and played this past year in Iowa. He has experience playing linebacker at this level too, so even if Pruitt doesn’t keep him at running back, he can put him in another very useful position.

However, White is still at the bottom of this list. He’d be a valuable pickup, but as a junior college guy, his years would obviously be limited. Also, the South Carolina Gamecocks are such overwhelming favorites to land him, that it doesn’t seem worth it for the Vols to target the guy too heavily. As a result, White is on this list but not too high up.
