4. Dee Beckwith will be the only open recruit to commit to Vols.

Since Malachi Wideman has given the Florida State Seminoles a soft commit, he’s not technically an open recruit. However, the opposite is true for Dee Beckwith. A three-star on Rivals, Beckwith is an athlete out of Florence High School in Florence, Ala. At 6’5″ 215-pounds, he is the No. 20 ranked player at his position nationally and the No. 15 ranked player in the state of Alabama.

Beckwith is another player who could be an immediate impact guy for Tennessee football at wide receiver. Even more than Wideman, he fits Jim Chaney’s profile, as his size is the specific selling point for him at receiver, although he can play other positions as well. So despite him having a lower ranking, he could be the one to see action the earliest.

UT is the overwhelming favorite to land Beckwith, and the Florida Gators were their biggest competition. However, former Vol assistant Larry Scott was recruiting Beckwith for Florida, and he has now left to take the head coaching job with the Howard Bison. As a result, Pruitt really has no competition to land this guy, so he will commit on National Signing Day.

The crazy part of this prediction, though, is that as we said, he will be the only person to openly commit on this day. That doesn’t mean he will be the only person in this class to choose the Vols. We mentioned Wideman’s flip. It just means that nobody else whom everybody was pursuing will commit to UT.
