Pick Analysis. Safety. 4-star. player. 839. Scouting Report. Andre Turrentine. 10

One of the biggest rules in recruiting is don’t let the elite players get away from your state. That’s especially true for Tennessee football, as the Vols already have a tough time getting top-notch talent in the state compared to what’s in Alabama, Georgia and Florida. So they need to get all the guys they can get, even if some of them aren’t part of a pressing need.

Andre Turrentine is one of those guys. Jeremy Pruitt has set the Vols up nicely with an elite secondary, particularly at safety but you can never have enough depth back there, and this guy, who is a four-star on Rivals and comes out of Ensworth High School in Nashville, brings the perfect amount of competition to the position.

At 6’0″ 180 pounds, Turrentine already has solid size and build, and he will almost certainly get stronger before he hits college. There’s a reason he’s the No. 5 ranked player in the state of Tennessee, the No. 12 ranked player at his position nationally and a top 170 player overall.

To land him, UT has to compete with lots of elite programs from the outside. The Ohio State Buckeyes, Alabama Crimson Tide, Georgia Bulldogs and LSU Tigers are all in play. There are no 247Sports Crystal Ball or Rivals FutureCast predictions yet. However, the Vols are an overwhelming majority favorite on the FanFutureCast. They have to fight to live up to that.
