Former Tennessee football quarterback Peyton Manning had some fun with his NFL foe as they talked their upcoming match with Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson.

Their golf match is set for Sunday, May 24 at 3 p.m. ET at the Medalist Golf Club in Hobe Sound, Fla. Peyton Manning and Tigers Woods will team up to face Tom Brady and Phil Mickelson, and the event will be televised across the Turner Sports network.

This had been in play for a while, but a date was not finalized until Wednesday. Now that it is, everybody is excited to see two rivals in separate sports go up against each other, something that will definitely be great for television during this coronavirus outbreak.

However, as the date and time for the match was being finalized, Peyton Manning couldn’t resist bringing his hilarious self into a four-way video interview they did. Manning took his shots at Tom Brady, from him having a parole officer not allowing him to leave Florida to the game being played at a neutral location. Here’s the full clip of Manning’s shots, posted to Brady’s Twitter account.

Of course, Manning took a shot at himself, noting that he didn’t do too well in locations friendly to Brady while playing on the field. He added that he and Woods have more championships combined than Brady and Mickelson, which is certainly the case, although Woods carries the weight of that with 15 of the 17 championships between the two of them.

Ironically, these two are connected. Back in 2007, right after Manning’s first Super Bowl championship, ESPN did a “Who’s Now?” bracket to see which player was the Michael Jordan, Babe Ruth or Muhammad Ali of the era. Manning and Woods were both No. 1 seeds and reached the Final Four, with Woods beating Manning there and then winning it all.

During the 2000s, that made sense, as they likely made the most money playing their respective sports among all other athletes, although LeBron James was obviously making a push. His decade was the 2010s.

Either way, this should be a thrilling event to watch, and Peyton Manning vs. Tom Brady is the NFL storyline everybody misses. What better way to return it to prominence and show their ages than with a golf matchup?
