Peyton Manning, Tiger Woods beat Tom Brady, Phil Mickelson in charity golf match
The former Tennessee Vols quarterback won this charity golf match.
Nearly $20 million was raised for coronavirus relief charity as former Tennessee football quarterback Peyton Manning, alongside Tiger Woods, held off Tom Brady and Phil Mickelson in Sunday’s charity golf match. The two won by one hole.
Manning and Woods went up by three strokes early, but Brady showed his clutch gene that people have seen so many times by hitting an Eagle and a Birdie to cut it to within one. However, throughout the back-nine, they could never get over the hump.
There were multiple shots in jest fired between Manning and Brady, including one moment where Brady trolled Smokey and Tennessee football. However, by and large, the match was all about charity and fun until the last few holes.

Much has been made in recent years about the rivalry between Brady and Manning. People will point out that Brady won the head-to-head while also winning more rings. However, Manning actually won the head-to-head in the playoffs, and in their first major golf matchup, Manning got the better of Brady again.
So when it comes to clutch genes and performing under pressure, it looks like there was nothing in this game to show Brady deserved the edge. In fact, Manning was the guy to put the clutch performances on display.
Part of what helped Manning and Woods take the early lead was a Manning birdie on an impressive put. Then, in one of the later holes on a Par 3 challenge, Manning got closer to the hole than any of the four, and Woods, shockingly had the worst hit on that one.
Simply put, Manning was clearly ready to play despite having some issues on his drives. That’s where Woods did the work, never missing the fairway. As a result, the two won the Champions for Charity match in what was one of the most entertaining sporting events in two months. Tennessee football’s favorite son came through again.
