Rotational backups

Ramel Keyton; Sophomore; 6’3″ 190 pounds; Marietta, Ga.

Last year, Ramel Keyton showed flashes as a freshman with four catches for 104 yards and a touchdown. He went over 60 yards in Tennessee football’s Gator Bowl win. As a result, the product of Marietta High School in Georgia is developing. He’ll compete for a starting wideout role early on, so watch out for him.

Deangelo Gibbs; Redshirt junior; 6’1″ 200 pounds; Oxford, Ga.

Another transfer, Deangelo Gibbs joined the Vols after leaving the Georgia Bulldogs last year. The Grayson High School product transferred as a safety but was moved over to receiver early on. He’s in play to be the backup slot to Velus Jones Jr., but he could win a starting role. After all, neither player is that proven in that role.

Cedric Tillman; Redshirt sophomore; 6’3″ 215 pounds; Las Vegas, Nev.

Despite being overlooked, as a recruit out of Bishop Gorman High School in Nevada, Cedric Tillman was a solid backup last year with 60 yards and a touchdown. New additions will make him a rotational player again this year, but he has proven he can be valuable as a wideout, so watch for him to come in on key plays.

Malachi Wideman; Freshman; 6’5″ 190 pounds; Venice, Fla.

If any true freshman will steal a starting spot, this guy out of Venice High School in Florida will do it. Malachi Wideman has amazing size and was a top 100 prospect. His potential is through the roof, and he’ll likely be a star very soon. In fact, he could become a No. 1 option for the Vols by his sophomore year.
