7. Daniel Martin

LB; Marietta, Ga.

If there was ever a position of need for Tennessee football heading into 2022, it was linebacker. That’s especially true with the recent unconditional departure of Dylan Brooks, who could have played edge rusher for the Vols. Their one saving grace is that new defensive coordinator Tim Banks runs more of a 4-2-5 system.

Anyway, Aaron Beasley, a four-star, was the only linebacker commitment in UT’s 2021 class, and Quavaris Crouch, J.J. Peterson and Henry To’o To’o have all entered the transfer portal. Simply put, they need a significant amount of help here.

Daniel Martin, who stands between 6’2″ and 6’3″ and weighs somewhere between 190 and 195 pounds, is another four-star across the board. A product of Marietta High School in Georgia, he is listed as an outside linebacker, but given his slim frame, he’s a solid fit for what Banks likes to run.

Right now, there is one prediction for Martin on the 247Sports Crystal Ball to land with the Georgia Bulldogs. That’s the only official pick for him right now, and the analyst’s confidence level is only a four out of 10. With no official favorites and Martin being from a neighboring state, enough evidence shows he’s still very much in play, so the Vols should target him hard.
