8. John Griffith

Hometown: Baltimore, Md. (St. Frances Academy)

Now switching over to a pro-style quarterback, John Griffith has had his Tennessee football offer since January of 2019. Griffith, the No. 699 player overall and No. 36 pro-style QB in the 2022 class, also has offers from Kentucky, LSU and Michigan.

If St. Frances Academy sounds familiar, that’s because it is. Three current Vols, sophomore defensive lineman Dominic Bailey, freshman linebacker Aaron Willis and freshman defensive lineman KaTron Evans all played for the Panthers.

The school consistently fields the best high school squad in Maryland and has been featured in MaxPreps’ national rankings on a yearly basis. Griffith manning that ship as the team’s quarterbacks says a lot about his mental capabilities, which Josh Heupel looks for in a signal-caller.

Griffith also trains alongside Caleb Williams, the top quarterback in the 2021 recruiting cycle at the Quarterback Factory in Maryland. There’s no denying Griffith surrounds himself and competes with some of the best competition in the country. You have to think that mindset is wanted on Rocky Top.

As a player, Griffith’s determined footwork allows him to fluently roll out of the pocket and fit the ball into tight windows when needed. There’s a reason why the 2020 National Champions and a historic Big Ten powerhouse want him in their locker room as well.
