Tennessee football rises by default in Week 3 SEC Power Rankings
Last week: Defeated Florida Gators 31-29
We’re now to the teams who have two Power Five wins on their resume. Alabama isn’t just up here because they are Alabama. Sure, they struggled with Florida, but blowing out Miami and beating Florida are enough for us to keep them in the top two of our SEC Power Rankings.
Bama is No. 2, though, for a couple of reasons. Them struggling with Florida is the obvious one. Also, beating the Miami Hurricanes doesn’t look as impressive anymore since The U just lost by three touchdowns to the Michigan State Spartans. Why did Tennessee football pick Jeremy Pruitt over Mel Tucker again?
Anyway, there’s still no shame in the Tide winning last weekend. Hey, they beat an elite team on the road. The expectations for this team are ridiculous, particularly with a freshman quarterback. They also blew out that Miami team we’re mentioning. At this point, their ugliest game was that 48-14 win over the Mercer Bears.
Coming off that Florida win, Alabama has one more easy game before their gauntlet begins too, though. They get to host the Southern Miss Golden Eagles. After that, Ole Miss and Texas A&M are both on the slate, so things aren’t getting any easier. They’re rolling right now, though.
