Things are not looking good for Ed Orgeron. His team is a double-digit underdog at Tiger Stadium Saturday. The LSU Tigers are coming off a blowout loss to the Kentucky Wildcats, and they are in the midst of a brutal five-game stretch against top 25 teams. This week is just their second one, and with Orgeron on the hot seat, it’s a dangerous situation.

On the other side, the Florida Gators bounced back nicely from its loss to Kentucky, which occurred the week before LSU played them, by blowing out Vanderbilt 42-0. Ranked No. 20 in the AP Poll and No. 17 in the Coaches Poll, Dan Mullen’s team has SEC wins over Vanderbilt and Tennessee football, but a win over LSU would do a lot more for them.

Morale is low for both teams as they write another chapter in their storied rivalry, so it’ll be interesting to see how they both handle it. While LSU needs to win to avoid the season becoming a disaster, Florida needs to win just so they don’t look like big underachievers.

Prediction

Last week, Florida showed that they can handle the pressure and low morale while LSU folds under it. With that pressure magnified on LSU this week and the fact that they have a below average rush defense, the Gators will torch them on the ground. That’s enough for me to take them to cover. LSU will hit some big plays in the passing game, though, so it’ll hit the over.

Florida: 38 LSU: 24 (Florida -11; Over 59.5)
