Last week: Lost to Texas A&M Aggies 35-14

It’s pretty safe to say Missouri is not having the second season under Eliah Drinkwitz that fans hoped. A dramatic improvement doesn’t seem to be in the cards. Losing close matchups to Kentucky and the Boston College Eagles was bad enough, but that 62-24 blowout loss to Tennessee football is where the real concern came.

A three-touchdown loss to Texas A&M was par for the course. This is a mediocre team made to look below average given the competition it’s facing right now. Josh Heupel, not Drinkwitz, is looking like the offensive genius in the SEC now given what he’s doing with Tennessee football.

All of Mizzou’s issues when it comes to stopping the run haven’t gotten any better, and the offense can’t buy consistency. Their wins have been ugly as well, as they only beat the North Texas Mean Green and Central Michigan Chippewas by two scores each.

Now they get a much-needed bye, and then their chances at SEC wins come. It starts with a trip to Vandy. They’ll then lose to the Georgia Bulldogs, but they then get South Carolina and Florida at home. If they beat Vandy and South Carolina, then an upset against Florida or at the Arkansas Razorbacks to close out the year is what they’ll need to reach a bowl. It’s possible but difficult.
