866. ESPN. Pittsburgh, Pa.. Saturday, Oct. 23. 5-1 (2-0). 4-2 (3-1). 879. 3:30 p.m. ET

Gambling odds according to WynnBET:

  • Line: Pittsburgh -3
  • Over/Under: 48.5
  • Moneyline: Pittsburgh -165; Clemson +145

This is barely a top 25 game. What’s crazy is nobody would have predicted the favorite in this matchup at Heinz Field at the beginning of the year, and nobody would have predicted the team that would be in the top 25 of both polls.

Such is the case for the Pittsburgh Panthers, though. Tennessee football is very aware how elite their passing offense is with Kenny Pickett, and that hasn’t changed in recent weeks. Pitt is been throwing it all over the field, and outside of a crazy loss to the Western Michigan Broncos, it has worked. There’s a reason they are No. 23 in both polls.

Dabo Swinney shockingly brings the Clemson Tigers in with two losses, to the Georgia Bulldogs and N.C. State Wolfpack, and they are only No. 24 in the Coaches Poll. This is a game they need not just to get back in the rankings but return to the ACC Championship race. A loss effectively ends their hopes of winning the Atlantic.

Prediction

The only top 50 pass offense Clemson has faced all year is N.C. State’s and they lost that game. I’ve got Pickett throwing all over them like he did Tennessee football, enough for make to take the over in this game and enough for me to take Pitt to cover. Pat Narduzzi’s best team, with Nathan Peterman, beat a Clemson team that won a national title. He’s about to do it again.

Pittsburgh: 27 Clemson: 23 (Pittsburgh -3; Over 48.5)
