Last week, the Mississippi State Bulldogs got the wrath of the Alabama Crimson Tide, who wanted revenge after their loss to the Texas A&M Aggies. That revenge is why people expect Alabama to blow out Tennessee football this week, but more on that later.

Saturday’s game features two desperate teams at Vanderbilt Stadium for different reasons. MSU wants to make a bowl game under Mike Leach this year. It’s got to find a way to win this game, and given how inconsistent his program has been all year, that’s easier said than done.

On the other side, the Vanderbilt Commodores may have two games left that they could potentially win, three if you count Tennessee football. They put up a fight last week against the South Carolina Gamecocks, but Clark Lea’s team came up short in the end. Can his defense step up to make this a game.

Prediction

Mississippi State is going to win this game. The questions is by how much. Leach hasn’t won a game by 21 points since he’s been at MSU. However, he’s good every other week, which means this is the week for him to be elite. As a result, I’ve got him winning and covering, and since MSU’s defense has been surprisingly okay, I’ve got this hitting the under.

Mississippi State: 34 Vanderbilt: 10 (Mississippi State -21; Under 51)
