Kentucky’s struggles usually come with one skill player standing out for the other team. Velus Jones Jr. could have made this list, as his 468 yards from scrimmage is second on the team. Combine that with his four touchdowns, his returning abilities and what the Mississippi State Bulldogs just did to Kentucky’s pass defense, and he has a strong case.

However, Tiyon Evans is Tennessee football’s top skill player on the year. he has 80 carries for 512 yards (6.4 yards per carry) and six touchdowns, and he also has four catches for 74 yards and a touchdown. Those numbers come despite him being banged up against the Alabama Crimson Tide and missing games against the Pittsburgh Panthers and Ole Miss Rebels.

Simply put, Evans has been the Vols’ top producer on yards from scrimmage and hasn’t even played two games. He’s one of the most underrated skill players in the nation, and coming off the bye week, he should be fully healthy and able to resume his dynamic abilities.

Kentucky allowed Tyler Badie of the Missouri Tigers to have 149 yards from scrimmage. It allowed Chattanooga Mocs running back Ailym Ford to run for 128 yards, and it allowed LSU Tigers running back Tyrion Davis-Price to run for 147 yards and two touchdowns. Evans can definitely do that.
