2. Over 28.5 first half

Sure, Kentucky wins with defense, and Tennessee football wins with offense. As a result, if the Wildcats are going to have a first-half lead, you have to think it will result in both teams playing their game, at which point the first half hits the under, right? Wrong!

Kentucky showed with teams like the Missouri Tigers that it can hang in shootouts at times. This game won’t be a shootout, but the Vols will score a solid amount in the first half. Think something like 14 points while Kentucky scores 10. That’s enough for 24 points, and with the over/under in the first set at 28.5, we’re already really close.

A touchdown to give Kentucky the lead in the second quarter would be enough for the first half to hit the over at that point. Heck, it could be more. The previous slide just noted how the Vols allow over 11 points per game in the second.

Simply put, the bulk of the scoring for both teams will be in he first half. The reason to bet on the Vols in the second half is based on the fact that they can score enough while Kentucky’s offense stalls with turnovers and miscues, especially in the cold weather.
