Tennessee football shoots up Week 10 SEC Power Rankings with win at Kentucky
Last week: Lost to South Carolina Gamecocks 40-17
Who saw this coming? The Florida Gators have gone from losing a close one to the Alabama Crimson Tide and blowing out Tennessee football early in the year to suffering massive upset losses against what should be mediocre SEC teams. We’re talking Kentucky, the LSU Tigers and now South Carolina. Like everybody else, they also got blown out by Georgia.
Anyway, Florida is now under .500, and Dan Mullen’s seat is red-hot. It’s one thing to not have any SEC Championship to play for despite that being the goal. The Gators now have no top 25 finish to even play for, and that’s a bad situation for this program to be in.
Now, to be fair, quarterback Anthony Richardson was hurt for this game, and if what Mullen said is true, this team was wrecked by the flu. That suggests they are way better than this game indicates, and they now have a chance to prove that.
Getting above .500 is tougher than it looks, though. They’ll get to .500 this week with the Samford Bulldogs, but then they’ll visit a Mizzou team desperate to make a bowl game. That could be tough. Meanwhile, the Florida State Seminoles aren’t as sure of a win anymore. As a result, they could miss out on a bowl altogether, which would be disastrous.
