Last week: Lost to Tennessee Volunteers 45-42

Everything people worried about with Kentucky en route to their 6-0 start has come true. Mark Stoops team was clearly a pretender and lucky to get to that record, and now on a three-game losing streak after a loss to Tennessee football, they were obviously overrated.

Four of those six wins came by a touchdown or less, including a five-point win against the FCS Chattanooga Mocs. They beat Florida off a fluke blocked field goal, and their other wins were each by a touchdown over Missouri and South Carolina, two teams considered highly mediocre in the league with one major exception from this past weekend.

UT was their first home loss of the season, but their loss to the Mississippi State Bulldogs also exposed them. This team makes far too many mistakes despite being able to move the ball, and it has lost two straight games despite having the ball for 40 minutes.

A top 25 finish is still in play, though. UK gets to rebound from Tennessee football with a visit to Vanderbilt. That should be a win. They then get to host the New Mexico State Aggies, so there’s no reason they shouldn’t be guaranteed eight wins. The season then comes down to a trip to the Louisville Cardinals. That looks like a loss for Kentucky right now, but they could easily win it.
