Last week: Lost to Alabama Crimson Tide 20-14

If we just go by what happened this past weekend, LSU could have actually moved up this list. Ed Orgeron’s team put up a massive fight against Alabama, and unlike Tennessee football, they were able to hang tough the whole game without collapsing in the final few minutes of the fourth quarter. That has to count for something.

Don’t forget that this team also has wins over Mississippi State and Florida. However, even with all of those truths, they are on a two-game losing streak. They got this game fresh off a bye week, so they probably had time to prepare to throw out every trick against Bama.

Before the bye, they lost to Ole Miss, and they have still lost four of five. Meanwhile, their only win during that time is over a Florida team that we already mentioned is collapsing, so they still belong near the bottom of our SEC Power Rankings.

Getting to a bowl to finish Orgeron’s tenure in Baton Rouge will be tough. They still have to face the Arkansas Razorbacks and Texas A&M Aggies. However, the good news is that both are at home, and they still get the Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks, a sure win. Can they pull off an upset in one of those other games? That’s what could somewhat salvage the season.
