They blew out Tennessee football 52-24 by outscoring them 28-7 in the fourth quarter, and then they got a bye week. Somehow, though, the Alabama Crimson Tide struggled severely against the LSU Tigers. It was a good bet to not take them to cover, but winning 20-14 is crazy.

Now, ahead of two tough SEC matchups to close out the season and make sure his team stays in the College Football Playoff race, Nick Saban has to make sure his team can refocus and not overlook games. They are currently No. 3 in the AP Poll but No. 2 in the Coaches Poll and CFP rankings. Luckily, they now have a matchup where focus won’t matter.

Under ninth-year head coach Doug Martin and in their fourth year as an Independent, the New Mexico State Aggies’ only victory is by eight points over the South Carolina State Bulldogs, an FCS team. Sure, they’ll make this their bowl game, but does anybody believe they have a chance? Alabama’s moneyline, as you can read is -100,000. Not -1,000 or -10,000. That’s for a reason.

Prediction

An upset at Bryant-Denny Stadium is impossible. But does Alabama cover this spread? Let’s say no. This isn’t based on any science, but come on. A 52-point spread is way too much. However, to not cover and the game hit the over, Alabama needs 59 points or New Mexico State needs two scores. Neither happens, so take the under and the Aggies on the spread, but Bama wins big.
