Prop bet No. 1: 1st half over 29.5

If Tennessee football is going to score a lot, it’ll come in the first quarter. The Vols average 15.5 points in the first quarter, leading the nation, and they hit both of their 70-plus yard touchdown passes last week against Kentucky in that quarter. Josh Heupel likes to strike quick and strike early, and nobody has done that better than the Vols.

On the other side, though, Georgia has an elite first quarter offense as well, averaging 11.2 points, good for No. 4 in the nation. Even if there’s a question about the Vols’ offense and its matchup with Georgia’s defense, as mentioned in the previous slide, nobody should question UGA’s offense against UT’s defense.

Taking that into account, UGA will likely go over 11 points in the first. Then you’ve got the second quarter, and Georgia is still elite. They are averaging 12.2 points per game in that quarter, and the Vols have the No. 116 ranked second quarter defense, allowing 12 points in those 15 minutes.

Both of these teams have top 10 first half offenses, with UGA at No. 5 and UT at No. 10. Add in the fact that this could be a blowout, and if it is, it’ll be with UGA doing all of its scoring in the first half or the first half being a shootout while the Dawgs finally pull away in the second. Either way, there will be a lot of first half fireworks, so this is definitely the best prop bet.
