Last week: Lost to Missouri Tigers 31-28

Reality set back in for Shane Beamer’s program. They were good enough to beat a horrendous Florida team two weeks ago, which for a brief moment made a bowl game seem likely. However, a close loss to Mizzou means they once again have an uphill climb to get to six wins Beamer’s first year on the job.

Still, Beamer did inherit a bit of a mess, and anything can happen. This team is certainly better than the one that lost 45-20 to Tennessee football earlier in the year. Just because they dropped again in our SEC Power Rankings doesn’t mean they aren’t seeing success based on the standards that should have been set for them this year.

The offense really seems to have found its groove, and that’s a good sign going forward for this program given how bad that side of the ball was to start the year. Will it be enough to reach bowl eligibility for this season, though?

Well, they get two reeling programs at home to close out the year. The Auburn Tigers head to town this weekend on the heels of two straight losses. Then they host their in-state rival Clemson Tigers, another program on a downward slide this year. Just upsetting one of those teams gets them to six wins.
