Well, at least the Kentucky Wildcats didn’t completely collapse. After a 6-0 start they were on a three-game losing streak, which culminated with their 45-42 loss to Tennessee football, and there was reason to believe that they were capable of suffering a major upset loss last week to the Vanderbilt Commodores.

It didn’t happen. Kentucky pulled away and clinched a second-place finish in the SEC East. Now, unranked across the board, they’ll be finishing the season hoping to get to nine or 10 wins. It starts with the easiest game to get their eighth win.

The New Mexico State Aggies are a horrendous program. Coming off a 59-3 loss to the Alabama Crimson Tide, ninth-year head coach Doug Martin may be on the hot seat, as he hasn’t won more than three games since 2017, and he won’t do it this year either.

Prediction

Mark Stoops’ team will be solely focused on the Louisville Cardinals next week. As a result, they aren’t going to cover this 37-point spread at Kroger Field Saturday. Take Kentucky to win easily, but, don’t expect them to score enough to cover or for this game to hit the over. I lost last week betting New Mexico State to cover as 52-point underdogs. That was against Alabama, though.

Kentucky: 38 New Mexico State: 3 (New Mexico State +37; Under 60.5)
