Missed NFL Playoffs

Sean Payton may be gone, but new head coach Dennis Allen is keeping offensive coordinator Pete Carmichael Jr. on staff, so the offense won’t change. That means there’s a need for speedy receivers, as Deonte Harris is gone. Velus Jones Jr. is a perfect fit for this franchise as a result, and he could make an immediate impact.

Why not make New Orleans’ entire arsenal of weapons a collection of Tennessee football players? Alvin Kamara, assuming he’ll be able to play, is still their all-purpose star from scrimmage. Marquez Callaway emerged as their go-to wideout. Jones could become Callaway’s complement on the other side.

New Orleans has a habit of getting steals from Tennessee football and building around UT receivers. Callaway was undrafted, Kamara fell to the third round despite having top five pick production the past five years, and Shy Tuttle emerged as a rotational defensive lineman despite being undrafted. Defensive back Bryce Thompson may be the next guy this year.

Even tight end Ethan Wolf saw his first bit of pro action last year in New Orleans, four years removed from playing college ball. Add in Robert Meachem and Donte Stallworth starring there, and it’s clear. New Orleans values former Vols and specifically former Vol receivers. Jones is a perfect fit for them.
