With two commitments already over the past month, Tennessee football recruiting for 2024 is really starting to heat up. Interestingly, Josh Heupel and the Vols are making a big push for skilled athletes from Philadelphia in that class.

Rocky Top is in the top 10 for Philly defensive back Omillio Agard, who revealed his list Monday. A four-star everywhere except On3, where he is a three-star, Agard stands between 5’11” and 6’0″ and weighs in the range of 155 to 175 pounds.

Coming out of St. Joseph’s Prep School, Agard also has the Penn State Nittany Lions, Notre Dame Fighting Irish, Michigan Wolverines, Alabama Crimson Tide, Georgia Bulldogs, Clemson Tigers, Texas A&M Aggies, Miami Hurricanes and South Carolina Gamecocks on his list. He announced the schools on Twitter.

Agard is the second 2024 Philly player within the past week to include the Vols in one of his early cuts. We wrote last week about Tyseer Denmark, a four-star across the board, announcing that the Vols are in his top 12.

Since he is listed as a cornerback across the board, it’s safe to assume that’s what Agard will play when he heads to college. Tennessee football doesn’t have as pressing of a need at cornerback as it does safety, but it could always use more talent there.

Also, 2024 is a long way away from now, so the positions loaded with veterans right now may not be where the Vols need to focus when it comes to recruiting that far down the road. No matter what, Warren Burrell will be gone by then, so they need at least one new player.

Currently, there are no favorites to land Agard on the Rivals Future Cast, and there are no 247Sports Crystal Ball predictions. Penn State is a plurality favorite on the Rivals Fan Future Cast and On3, but the latter has Tennessee football third behind Michigan, so the Vols have a great shot at the kid.
