Tennessee Football just landed a 4-star speed demon out of Salem, Virginia, which will add yet another dynamic weapon to the Volunteer offense.
Peyton Lewis is a 6-foot-1-inch, 190-pound running back with elite speed and an extremely promising future. Lewis is a 4-star recruit who is joining Tennessee Football with the 2024 recruiting class and has the ability to make an immediate impact once he gets to Knoxville.
What to expect from Tennessee Football’s new weapon?
According to Vol Scoops:
"“New Vol RB Commit Peyton Lewis says the staff told him they will have a personalized playbook for him called ‘Feed The Stud.'”"
Lewis has some incredible speed and has Personal bests in the 55 meters (6.34) and 300 meters (35.25), and his seasonal best in the 60 meters is 6.93 seconds, and he won the 55-meter state title for the second time and tied a meet record of 6.37 seconds.
Furthermore, according to Brian Dohn at 24/7 Sports:
“ Has verified size with a wide shoulder frame to add muscle and mass without losing speed or athleticism. Impressive dual sport profile with elite speed. Two-time state 55-meter champ with a personal best of 6.34 seconds. Productive player for one of the top Class 4 programs in the state. Often runs out 21 personnel formations with stacked defense in box. Is a home run threat anywhere on the field and hits holes with purpose and speed. More of a one-cut, downhill runner who gets to the second level quickly.
Routinely out-runs high school defensive backs. Is difficult to arm tackle and does not go down on first contact often. Patient runner who is comfortable running between the tackles but has the speed to bounce plays outside. Shows balance and is effective with his stiff arm. Can gear down to hit the gap and quickly accelerates to get through. Knows how to change pace and has burst to overcome angles. Can be an effective pass catcher out of the backfield.
Has to continue to work on flexibility throughout the frame and run lower. The pad level is sometimes high but does not get hit cleanly often. Does not often cut at full speed. Added frame looseness will increase elusiveness. Needs to be more consistent running behind pads. Can play early at the Top 20 program. Has NFL draft potential.”
