Tennessee Football’s Dont’e Thornton has been tearing it up lately. It poses the question of whether the transfer will have a breakout season this year…
The Volunteers’ new weapon is a 6’5, 200-pound beast of a receiver. Head coach Josh Heupel recently mentioned that the WR transfer Dont’e Thornton has been a relentless worker in the offseason and that he provides more versatility and speed to the WR room.
If this is any sign of things to come, it seems like superstar Jalin Hyatt left the Vols Wide Reciever Room in good hands with Dont’e Thornton.
Can Anybody Stop Dont’e Thornton This Year?
Dont’e is an incredible deep threat, and if we have learned one thing from Joe Milton, he can certainly throw the ball far. Dont’e was a 4-star in the class of 2021 and ranked 57th nationally. He is, by far, one of the most talented players in the portal.
OC Joey Halzle had this to say on WR Dont’e Thornton:
"“He’s a freak… There’s good players, and then there’s guys that have rare traits; that guy is extremely rare and what he can do on a football field.”"
While there has been plenty of hype surrounding the new Tennessee Football Wide Receiver, he has also backed it up daily in Spring Camp. Thornton has been unbelievable in Spring Camp and is already starting to build a deep connection with Milton III, which can be a scary sight for anyone that faces up against the Vols next season.
Joe Milton III and Dont’e Thornton are two of the most exciting young players in college football, and next season will hopefully be nothing short of spectacular for Tennessee football and Volunteer fans all over the country.
