Tennessee Football: Josh Dobbs Expected to Start for Cardinals
By Blake Wyman
Former Tennessee Football legend Josh Dobbs is expected to take the field for the Arizona Cardinals in week 1 of the NFL season.
Dobbs has been constantly moving around the NFL since he made it into the league. The Tennessee Football prodigy began his career in 2018 in Pittsburgh but has since been to Cleveland and Nashville. He has now moved to Arizona to take the field as the starting quarterback this weekend to kick off the NFL season.
Trade Information
According to NFL reporter Tom Pelissero:
"“[The Browns Traded] QB Josh Dobbs and a 2024 7th-round pick to the Cardinals for a 2024 5th-round pick.”"
The Cardinals are arguably one of the worst, if not the worst, teams in the NFL right now. They have been trading away all of their best assets and, according to Fanduel Sportsbook, are not favored to win a single game this season.
As a Volunteer fan, I want to see Dobbs succeed in the NFL, but having no weapons on offense and playing for the worst team in the NFL will take a lot of work.
Josh Dobbs NFL Stats
Dobbs has only thrown 85 passes in the NFL, has really been overlooked by many teams, and has been moved all over the place, never given a true chance to show all his incredible talent.
According to ESPN:
"“Since the Steelers drafted Dobbs in the fourth round in 2017, he’s played in just eight games with two starts, both of which came with the Titans last season. In those starts, he completed 40 of 68 passes for 411 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions while rushing eight times for 44 yards. Dobbs hasn’t had much time to get acclimated to Arizona’s playbook following his trade from Cleveland on Aug. 24, but he appears as if he’ll get the first chance to start in place of Kyler Murray (knee) to kick off the 2023 campaign. Behind Dobbs, rookie fifth-round pick Clayton Tune will serve as the team’s No. 2 quarterback.”"
